Baa Baa Black sheep have you any wool? - Many Lincolnshire churches derived their wealth from the wool trade. The nursery rhyme Baa Baa Black sheep refers to this. We are putting on an exhibition of hand spun items. We will be spinning in the church all day on both days.

A murder story

St Michael's church is on Ralph Lane which is named after Ralph Smith who, allegedly, murdered Gentle Sutton in 1792. Gentle Sutton lived in a thatched cottage just round the corner on Banister Lane. After being found guilty Ralph Smith was executed at Lincoln Castle. At the request of local people his body was hung from a gibbet in Ralph Lane, about half a mile from the church. A plaque was put up in 1983 to mark the spot where the body of Ralph Smith was hung in chains.
